Elephant Jokes

I'm drawing a serious blank. I know that this past week happened, but I don't know what happened this past week.  Let me think, let me think. I know that's kind of a dangerous pastime for me, but desperate times call for desperate measures.  Oh, on Thursday, I went with Devorah S. (truly a malach) to Ramois Bet to get sheitels! Isn't that crazy? I would post a picture here, but I think I'm making ridiculous and/or pained and/or tortured faces in every picture. I'm being only slightly dramatic; it actually wasn't so bad, and I ended up getting two sheitels. Look at me, all grown up and...and saving China.  What else, what else? Oh! I remember Shabbos. I was in Har Nof for a bar mitzvah. The Lessins (a famed Richmond family) were making a bar mitzvah for their oldest son, and they invited me, which was super sweet.  I stayed by my friend's apartment, and I ate the meals with the family. It was such a beautiful simcha. Was super social, hocked it up with ...

Blond Hairballs

How do I even begin to explain what I found out this week? How do I formulate the life-changing, life-transforming words that were told to me this week? It is too great a task for little old me. I must call upon the words of our great Sage, Shana Aleph, who spoketh these words that forever changed my life:  Rumor has it, if you've ever had mono, and you get corona, your mono can come back.  So... YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY HAVE MONOOOOO #crazy #monoForLife #MaybeGetABloodTestForReal...? #BlogWorthy So, yes, everyone. I might actually still have mono.  Anywho, after that, who cares what else I write? But I did want to do a semi-interactive activity with all y'all. It's gonna be a Q&A, about my chosson.  Now, I know that many of you are wondering certain things about this mysterious R. Dilman, and it is my job as the mediator to answer any and all questions and put to rest any lasting doubts and concerns you all may have.  Let us begin with the first qu...

Blacklisted

It's been a simchadik-filled week, baruch Hashem. First, there was Azula's wedding on Thursday. She is now a married woman. So funny to think about us a measly three years ago, lying in our miniscule dorm room, wondering about the mysterious unnamed males who would be brave (and crazy) enough to marry us, and now she's married! It's craziness. And my other roomie, Princess, is engaged! Wow. Such brachos.  And then came Shabbos. I stayed by my cousins in Ramois, the Safers, and ate the meals by my chosson's house. It was the first time we spent Shabbos together, and it was really nice. His oldest sister's kids were there, so that was super cute. The meals were so nice, and the Divrei Toirah were very deep and went waaay above my head. I have to be very careful about what I say here, because my chosson might read this.  I had told my chosson about my obsession with chocolate twizzlers, so he tried to find them. He couldn't, because they don't really exist ...

SJF

— chosson was distracting me. Yes, you heard that right. Someone is crazy enough to want to marry me. Yes, ME! Thanks for all the mazel tov wishes; however much I don't like to speak on the phone, I have been doing a lot of it recently.  Now we get to the crux of the matter: my chosson reads my blog, so I might have to tone down the craziness a bit...or maybe he should see all of it so he knows what he's getting himself into? Hmmm. Points to ponder.  His name is R. Dilman. Which will make me Hudilman (pronounced Huddleman), creds to Adeeeeeeena. To all those out there wondering: no, I don't know what continent the wedding is going to be on. As my father so aptly put it, we've narrowed it down to Australia or Scotland.  Anywho, enough about me. Wait, actually every single blog post is only about me. Moving on... Our hilarious-watches-himself-teaching-teacher said a great line the other day, documented by our very own Faeven: "It's the SJF: that stands for Shorte...

Featherless Bipeds

A mathematician's wife gave birth. A friend asked the new father, "Is it a boy or girl." The mathematician replied, "Yes." Now, there are many different types of people in the world and varying responses to this joke:  1) People who didn't get it. They are slightly less uneducated than the rest of the civilized world, but I think they're okay with that.  2) People who understood it but didn't laugh. These are the people who everyone aspires to be. They are book smart and people smart.  3) People who understood it and laughed. Well, congrats to these people. They are bona fide nerds.  Speaking of nerds, I learned the Hebrew word for that term. It's "chnun." Great word to add to my repertoire.  Also, learned the Hebrew word for x-ray on Shabbos. That will definitely help me in my everyday conservations in Israel.  Speaking of Shabbos, it was so cute. I was in Benay Beraq. I love my cousins there. I spoke many muches of Hebrew, but I also ...

Subconscious

The itsy bitsy spider walked slowly down the hill Pens and books in bag, she was feeling slightly ill School was starting soon, and she was void of all such cheer And she wanted more than ever to be a sanitation engineer School has begun again. So far, it actually hasn't been terrible. I'm wary saying that, because as soon as I start thinking my classes aren't so bad, then our teachers start speaking in Greek, giving us homework questions that should be outlawed in the civilized world.  But in one of our classes, math logic, we actually learned English grammar. I was beaming the whole class. I never imagined we'd learn about compound vs. simple sentences in a class called math logic. It was one of the greatest moments of my college career (which isn't saying much, considering my college career so far).  So Sunday was our first day of school. But something else happened on Sunday. My friend, Adina, and I made a siyum on Nach. It was all very special. It was our own m...

Diamond Rings

I am writing this blog when I should be doing anything but. You see, I have a final on Friday, and I kind of skipped the last five classes, and I don't really know what the first seven classes were talking about, but I don't even care at this point.  And there are so many more important things to do right now, like tell you all about my week. First and foremost, Strange Snippets. We've got some good ones this week.  "You make this sukkah pasul when you're in it." This was said to a child who was crying for like 30-minutes straight for absolutely no reason at all. My friend and I cracked up when we heard this.  Speaking of friends, one "friend" said to me at a meal, "You know, I don't want your kids to be negative influences on my kids." How rude! So what if my kids steal diamond rings by the time they're old enough to walk? So what if my kids crash into their school buildings? So what if my kids get sent to the office on the second ...
