The Shparkuses (Shparkesi?)!
Breaking news: The construction has stopped. I repeat, the construction has stopped!!!!! Sabotage plans may be postponed indefinitely. I will let you know if anything has changed. But for now, put away the tasers and the stun guns and the pitchforks.
But that is not the most exciting news of the week, if you can believe it. A. and D. Shparkus are married! They are now the Shparkuses (Shparkesi?)! The wedding was absolutely beautiful. It was a stunning location, amongst gardens and flowers and trees. And the food was incredible. And the Sparkly Kallah was radiant, as was her entire fam jam.
I danced like a dork, got a meaningful and poignant bracha from the Sparkly Kallah, hung out with Avi (brother of said Sparkly Kallah) was told a dvar Torah from the Kallah's grandfather, hugged Tzivie, and just enjoyed the simcha.
The Shtiq (no, that's not a typo. Shtiq is with a Q. Didn't you know that?) was hilarious and so well done, and I'm just so many happies for all the Shpiegels and Shparkuses!
Now let me rewind to last Shabbos, spent in Telzstone with my friend's sister. I really got to explore the small city. We took the kids to the park on Shabbos day. I met a teacher from Michlala, who taught my sister Shoshana. Apparently, we look alike.
My friend and I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning talking about who knows what, just enjoying the quiet and the company.
Motzei Shabbos, for Melave Malka, we ate ice cream cones. But then we weren't sure if one cone were enough to make an Al Hamichya, so we started counting cookie cereal like true dorks. We needed 20 to make an Al Hamichya...or so we thought. Until my friend's brother-in-law helpfully piped up, "Oh, 20's only for Borei Nefashos." Well, that would have been nice to know before we painstakingly counted out our measly 20 cookies. Nu nu. That's life.
What else happened? Oh, yes. Shana Aleph left us to go spend time with her fam jam, which made me so many sads. But Faeven came back from the Americas this week, which made me so many happies. So I guess it balances out.
I have ignored and procrastinated much homework this week, hence the writing this blog right now, and it is glorious.
Oh, the power went out a few nights ago. That was crazy. I took a shower in the dark. I also baked a cake the other day. No, there is no direct correlation between those two things. I just was too lazy to make them into two separate paragraphs. Though, if you want, you can make up a connection between baking cakes and the power going out. I have a few ideas, ranging from the slightly crazy (the power went out BECAUSE I was baking a cake and the toaster oven was on too high and the power lines couldn't handle it) to the severely crazy (I was planning on poisoning the construction workers with my cake, but someone got a wind of my evil plot and turned the power off so I couldn't finish baking the cake and then warned the workers to stop all construction immediately, hence the no more construction). You can make up your own ideas. Let me know what they are!
Last night, there were two incredible events that I went to. The first was a Hachnasas Sefer Torah which was right by us. It was so nice, and I loved seeing all the little kiddies get really into it. The second was musical Selichos, which were super powerful and inspiring, and I just got pretty scared for Rosh Hashana which is so soon.
So, probably should go do some introspecting right now. And if you're reading this, you should stop and do a Cheshbon Hanefesh before all of your brain cells decide to take permanent leave.
Everyone should have a G'mar Chasimah Tovah!
Toodles from Hoodles.
