For the Very First Time, A. and D....Shparkus!!
'Tis Hudi here, writing from her palace of an apartment. Yes, we moved from our lovely shoebox into the even more lovely palace. The dryer exists, the elevator isn't broken, and, most importantly, I will no longer die of heat stroke because we have AC.
Moving into this palace took some work--an entire day's work of schlepping and packing and unpacking and more schlepping. Sunday was a very long, tiring day, starting bright and early at 7:00 am. Well, more accurately, I was up until 3:00 am on Sunday, finishing up some last-minute cleaning, so I guess that's when it started.
Who woulda thunk that moving five minutes away would be such an experience? And yet, it was. Just moving Coco (that's my giant stuffed shark, for all those who don't care about me enough to remember the truly important things in my life) to the palace took a good 15 minutes.
So, that was Sunday. Moving backwards, as I am so apt to do in this blog, Shabbos was so nice. I was in Netivot (AKA Gaza) with my aunt and uncle. My uncle thinks I am an old maid; he's very concerned about my shidduch prospects (or lack thereof). It's so reassuring to have people who care about me.
I read quite a bit, went to this amazing shul Friday night, spoke with my aunt, learned some Toirah from my uncle, ate some home-kashered liver (how cool is that!?) and just had a really great time.
And then, Motzei Shabbos came, and with it came cleaning like crazy. I'm pretty sure that our floors hadn't been mopped since Pesach. I think that the water turned black the second it hit the floor.
So, that was fun, and so was Sunday. No, fun's not the right word. Let me think what would be better...torturous? Excruciating? Dreadful? Worst experience of my life? Yeah, those do work better.
But you know what was actually fun? D. Shparkus got engaged! Like, to a real live guy. Who's super nice. And they're super cute together. Mikvah-jumper Avigayil and I went to their vort on Monday night, which was an experience in and of itself. We got on a bus that didn't go to Ramat Beit Shemesh, so we got off on a random stop in the middle of Beit Shemesh, with no clue where we were. And then we got onto another random bus that took us to RBS. It was the most nauseating bus ride ever. I think that it took more turns in 10 minutes than a ballerina does in Swan Lake.
But, it was worth it to get to the vort. D. Shparkus and her chosson, from here on out known as A. Shparkus , are soooooo cute. And I'm so many happies for them.
Also, A. Shparkus said such a funny line to Avigayil and myself. I was being crazy and laughing obnoxiously loudly and speaking even loudlier, and he said, "Such personality for Bais Yaakov girls!" It was so funny and quite a compliment to us.
So, they're absolutely adorable, and it was so nice to see the Shpigels. I also saw a guy from Richmond, which was funny. There are people from Richmond besides for me. This is proof, everyone.
Faeven Manebust left us, which was so many sads. She will be missed dearly. And so will her awesome faces and dance moves and raps. But we're glad she can go see her fam jam.
Shloims also left us...to get married! Tomorrow! It's crazy. We're gonna stay up late and watch her wedding and cry like babies.
Anywho, in less exciting news, my friend and I were speaking about two Rabbis whose wives are best friends, and my friend said, "Do you think our wives will also be best friends?" I had to mull over that one for awhile. This friend also made an acronym for guys who we're dating: plm, which stands for potential life mate. If you say it fast, it sounds like pilm (potential idiotic life mate) or polm (potential obtuse life mate), both of which make perfect sense.
What else has been happening? I got a job with my big sis, which is cool. I also applied for a blog-writing job, which is crazy, because I have no experience with that.
Also, my friend Piga (if you spell her Hebrew name with 2 yuds and not one, her name will suddenly turn into Faiga. So weird) is now a part of our dorm. We like her a lot. We'll keep her for now.
So, that's the story, everyone. Hope you enjoyed. And if you didn't, I know a few nurses (Piga, Tzivie and Avigayil, to name a few) who will gladly check your brain for you.
Toodles from Hoodles!
