Banay Braq

Well, hello there again. I am doing well, thanks for asking. Well, you didn't really ask, but I volunteered the information.

I just thought you all should know before you begin reading and killing off your brain cells one by one that I'm writing this at 10:00 at night, and I've had a very long, tiring day (and I have mono!). So if you do read this foray into the scary place called Hudi's sleep-addled mind and find yourself a carrot at the end of it, don't say you weren't warned.

With that introduction, let's begin.

So to be honest, nothing really happened this week (except for things I can't tell you). That's actually a complete lie. Many wonderful things happened.

Firstly, we got a new dira mate. Her name is Maeven, she has a shark bag, and we're best friends. (Well, I think we're best friends, except I might have stolen her shark bag two hours after she came to Israel. And she was too tired from the plane ride to argue with a wacko like me.)

I started knitting again. Don't worry. I'm still an old lady. I also play bridge during boring classes.

Speaking of classes, I am really enjoying most of them. My favorite is digital systems, which is super hard but also very rewarding. We also have this class on Chassidus, and the woman who teaches is so cute. We just read sichos from the Rebbe and listen to chassidish niggunim. It's awesome.

Work is going well. Getting to know the kids, learning how to read English, making some money. All good things.

In other news, my friend, Shana, had this crazy story. Pretty much, her laptop battery seemed to be fried. So she went to a store and bought a new charger, which only let her computer stay on 1 percent. Not super helpful. So she started going to different computer stores (more like sketchy computer holes-in-the-wall) and kept getting the same type of response: "It's your muzzerboard-300 shekels," or "Yeah, it's your battery. You need new one-500 shekels."

Well, speaking from experience as a broke college student, those generous offers did not sound too inviting. So, she starting ambling down a random side street off of Yaffo.

And as she was walking, she just gave it all up to Hashem. It's all up to Him, and if He wanted her to spend a few hundred shekel and wait three days for a new battery, then that would be it.

A few moments later, she found a computer store. What would be the harm in trying it out? The guy looked at her computer for about two seconds, said, "You need a different charger," tried his charger out, and it worked.

Pretty cool, huh?

Um, I just wanted to let you all know that I learned many muches of Hebrew this past Shabbos. I was in Bnei Brak AKA Bnei Beraq AKA Banay Braq, and I was just surrounded by Hebrew speakers. I literally used more brainpower during those 25 hours than I do in an entire week of computer science and math classes. I had a really great time with my big cousins and little cousins and cousins' friends and random people I met on the street. It was such a nice Shabbos.

This Shabbos, I plan to be in Kiryat Sefer AKA Qiryat Safer with my cousins, the Fogels. Their daughter just got engaged! Super exciting. Do you think it would be rude to ask them if I can do my laundry at their house? We don't exactly have a dryer in our apartment.

So, I honestly can't think of anything else to write. I think my brain is just too tired to think of all the many things that have happened this past week. Sorry this one is so short. I hope you enjoy it anyway!

Toodles from Hoodles!
