Giant Noses

There once was an extremely tired shark who was swimming in the Danube (for all those who don't know what the Danube is, it is one of the major bodies of water in Austria. For all those who don't know what Austria is, please get help and go back to 2nd grade). This shark was of a rare species, known by the scientific name of Barticus. Barticus, in Latin, means "has mono", taken from the roots Bartis, meaning "mono", and Cus, a suffix meaning "to have".  And this shark swimming in the Danube lived up to his name. After having swum from the Atlantic ocean through frigid temperatures and stormy waters, he had finally made it to the Danube, where he wanted to rest. Not having slept for too many hours (or was it days), his tired eyes began to close and his body began to sink...and sink...and sink...and then Hudi felt the cold, hard plastic of the airport chairs beneath her.  Yes, I was in Austria for a time. In the airport, to be precise. And I was quit...

Hit List

A Gutten Moed everyone! It's Hudicus, signing in from down south.  As I sit next to my Zeidy, who may or may not be dictating this post to me, I wonder: how truthful can I be this week? If I were to document all that happened this week faithfully and truthfully, two things would most certainly happen:  1) My family would disown me and 2) I would be at the top of 14 hit lists (those 14 people being my family). Pesach is one of those holidays where, if everyone makes it out alive and unscathed at the end, it is a miracle almost on par with Yetzias Mitzrayim.  Yes, I happen to be somewhat dramatic right now, but I reflect on the fact that having everyone squashed together for over a week, with interesting food, topics of conservations, so many meals, so many late nights, the cleaning beforehand, during, and after, and the lack of Krispy Kreme donuts, is a recipe for disaster.  Anywho, let me start from last Wednesday. It will forever be known as the day that I...

Factious Caution

This is a shehechiyanu moment. I am writing my post in America for the first time. It's not 1 or 2 am, and it's not in the middle of a boring class, and it's not in the twelve minutes I have between making dinner and eating it. It's in my house, on my kitchen floor, to be exact, while shirking my Pesach-cleaning and cooking duties.  So, after that intro, let us go back seven days to last Tuesday, where I was still in Israel. To tell you the truth, last week is a little bit of a blur. I cleaned my room, which is always an adventure. Found a cornflake in my closet and devised a bunch of scenarios to how it got there, ranging from the "I was really mad at my C++ homework, so I threw the thing closest to me (a cornflake on the desk) into the closet" to the "I was practicing my aim so I could join the WNBA, and I aimed my cornflake into my roommate's closet, but I'm not a great shot, so it landed in my closet" to the "I put that cornflake the...

Mold Malador

There was a pool There was a mule And the mule in the pool Cried Because he hated school  Wow, the eloquence of that poem... On a completely unrelated topic, school this week was a bit hard (I know, you're shocked). We started derivatives in CalKillUs. I like derivates so many muches more than I like limits, which is what we've been doing for the past month.  We had a midterm on Friday in Data Structures. I think I did okay. Doing okay is relative. In high school, if I'd gotten anything less than a 90, I thought the world had gone crazy. In Machon Tal, if I get anything above a 90, I think the world is going crazy. Look how the times have changed.  Also, I'm reconsidering my career plans to be a sanitation engineer, because I passed my final. Yes, indeed, it is true. And now I am so many happies.  Shabbos was so nice. I was in Gaza...sorry, I meant Netivot. Gaza, Netivot, practically the same thing. Don't worry, I was perfectly safe. And I didn't even do anythin...
